A surprise Nintendo Direct revealed Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and confirmed a release date of September 17 of this year, with pre-orders now live. Digital copies are priced at $70, the physical edition at $80, and the special Dagdan Collection at $120 — prices the piece describes as eye‑watering.

Former Nintendo of America PR manager and director of social media marketing and original content Kit Ellis summed up the reasoning plainly: "Fire Emblem is $80 because Nintendo knows fans of that series are as die-hard as they come." He added, "They want the game physical, and they will pay the premium.

The $120 special edition will sell out quickly. Expect the same approach for Xenoblade next year." The article notes that fans have a history of paying for premium editions and collectibles, and that the last mainline Fire Emblem, Engage, arrived in 2023 — leaving many players ready for more.
