Final Fantasy 7 Remake Confirms Spin‑Off Characters for Revelation

During a Q&A in Shanghai, director Naoki Hamaguchi declined to confirm whether Cissnei will appear in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, but he used the opportunity to outline a broader creative plan for the remake trilogy. Hamaguchi said the series was never meant to be a straightforward recreation of the 1997 game.

Instead, the team aims to build a single, new Final Fantasy 7 that incorporates settings and concepts from previous spin-offs such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. That approach has already shown up across the trilogy, including characters tied to Dirge of Cerberus and the return of Cissnei after nearly two decades away.

The director added that this philosophy will carry into Revelation, which will feature characters from various Final Fantasy 7 compilation titles beyond Cissnei.
