FF7 Revelation will include characters from spin‑offs, director says

Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi says the trilogy intends to pull the entire FF7 story into its gravitational orbit, so Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will include more extended-universe references, characters and concepts. When asked about Cissnei he teased, "Well, at this time it's best not to say whether Cissnei will appear or not," adding "But there is one thing I can tell you." Hamaguchi explained the Remake series aims to "create a single, new Final Fantasy 7 that incorporates the settings and concepts of all the previous spin-off titles such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core," and noted Dirge of Cerberus characters already appear in the Intergrade DLC.

He said that, beyond Cissnei, Revelation will include characters from the various FF7 compilation games, and that each of these characters has a large and dedicated fanbase the team wants to satisfy. Having been coy before, Hamaguchi's comments make the inclusion of compilation characters in Revelation appear likely.
