FF7 Revelation lead says FF6 remake might be better for another creator

Remaking a game as iconic and beloved as Final Fantasy 7 was a major undertaking, and Square Enix split the project into three parts. The Remake trilogy is approaching its conclusion, with a finale expected in Spring 2027, and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation lead Naoki Hamaguchi has passed on bringing back another classic from the series.

Hamguchi said he sees many fans asking him to helm a Final Fantasy 6 retelling: "I do see a lot of fans and community asking me to take on the helm for a FF6 remake," adding that "a Final Fantasy 6 Remake or any other remake, it could be me, or it could be someone else.

Personally, I think that it might be in better hands if it went to another creator in Square Enix." Square Enix PR reportedly emphasized the hypothetical nature of the idea.
