FF7 Revelation director says game design must evolve as streaming rises
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third part of the JRPG remake trilogy, is likely to feature heavily in creators' streams, but director Naoki Hamaguchi has warned that developers must take care so players are not satisfied by merely watching videos or streams. He raised the point in an interview with 4Gamer and says he has taken it into account while designing the game.
Hamaguchi clarified his stance in a follow-up post online, writing, "I fully support streaming culture. But as times change, I believe the way we design games also needs to evolve." He adds that he is looking forward to seeing how Final Fantasy VII Revelation is received and has aimed to make it a unique experience for everyone, every time.
The comments reflect a broader challenge: balancing content creators' ability to host streams or record immersive videos with players' capacity to enjoy the game firsthand.
