Kevin Warsh has launched a series of task forces as he settles into the Federal Reserve chair role. He said the move was an opportunity "to reaffirm its mission, to review current practices, and to consider whether those practices best meet our objectives," and that he and his colleagues would "ask what changes might improve the conduct of monetary policy." Warsh is a new appointee of President Donald Trump and previously led a 2014 review of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, producing recommendations to bolster transparency, accountability, and governance.

Warsh used language more typical of a CEO — urging the Fed to "start with first principles," "ask hard questions," and "consider alternatives" — framing the effort as gathering information, reassessing priorities, and building support for potential changes. A spokesperson for the Fed declined to comment.
