Fans Say They've Solved Mystery of Alleged AI-Assisted Kingdom Hearts Box Art
At first glance, the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] box art for the Switch 2 looks familiar: Donald, Goofy, Mickey and multiple versions of Sora arranged to reference each numbered entry. Close inspection, however, turned up odd artifacts — Donald’s fingers, unexpected clockwork details, zipper mesh and boot treads — that set off a debate over whether generative AI was responsible.
Some fans suggested the image might be mostly AI‑generated or a composite of AI pieces, and others noted Donald’s appearance resembled a rendered in‑game model. Multiple posters who study Tetsuya Nomura’s style pushed back, arguing the illustration itself is Nomura’s work and that generative AI was likely applied later to separate characters or upscale the art for different box variations.
That explanation would reconcile the mix of hand‑drawn elements and odd artifacts, but questions remain.
