Disney released a new trailer for Hexed yesterday. The animated film, due in theaters on November 25, stars Hailee Steinfeld as Billie, a teenage girl who discovers she has magical powers and finds a world of witches and wizards. Viewers noticed the trailer’s compositions keep action centered in the frame, which makes clips easy to crop for vertical apps such as TikTok and Instagram.

Fans who edited the trailer into a vertical aspect ratio found only about three shots that were not centered. Observers compared Hexed’s framing to Dreamworks’ Forgotten Island, which uses more of the screen for varied compositions, and also pointed to Pixar’s Elio, which similarly centers characters and action.

Some suggested studios may be shaping shots to encourage viral edits and free promotion on social platforms. Those comments did not rule out Hexed as a good film, though several viewers wrote that the studio’s recent output has been uneven.
