Exodus looks even more like Mass Effect after extended gameplay reveal
Archetype Entertainment's Exodus, a sci-fi action RPG, unveiled an extended gameplay video at the Future Games Show. It offers the most up-close look so far, and the resemblance to Mass Effect remains hard to ignore. Players control Jun Aslan, a deep-space salvager who unexpectedly wields powerful technology thanks to a genetic trait.
An upgradeable gauntlet grants special abilities, and moral choices — such as sparing bystanders or blowing an airlock — steer Jun toward the Paladin or Immortal path, affecting character progression and interactions. The companions shown in the trailer map onto familiar archetypes: Phaedra Nath has echoes of Liara with more nervous energy; Tom Vargas feels Kaidan-like; Elise Charrous channels Jack; Salt, an Awakened octopus, mixes Mordin Solus with an HK-47 edge; and Houston, an Awakened wolf, reads like Wrex.
CC Orlev, the "mysterious space cowboy" voiced by Matthew McConaughey, remains a wild card. The video also visits the hub city Persepolis and highlights time dilation as a narrative element.
