Evil Dead Wrath Reveals Surprise Place in Franchise Timeline

Producer Rob Tapert revealed new details about the Evil Dead spin-off Evil Dead Wrath during a presentation at Michigan State University earlier this year. A YouTube user, ziggy2019, who attended posted the event online. The project entered production earlier this year, but many details remained under wraps until Tapert spoke.

Tapert confirmed Wrath predates the rest of the series, taking place in 1972. He said the director and cinematographer intend to imitate the Ektachrome 100 film look to give the movie a warm, tungsten 1972 feel. Tapert added that the film includes coming-of-age sexual hijinks not typical of the franchise and warned it may have difficulty with the MPAA.

He also offered more on Evil Dead Burn, describing it as the story of a French woman in a bad marriage in America, with an abusive husband and in-laws who did not believe her.
