Everything to Know About Minions & Monsters

Illumination's Minions & Monsters is the third standalone prequel set before the Despicable Me films, revealing more about the Minions' backstory. The film opens exclusively in theaters on July 1. Set in 1920s Los Angeles at the dawn of Hollywood, the Minions are searching for a new evil boss but end up starring in a black and white movie that makes them famous.

New Minions James and Henry then try to secure their place as filmmakers by making an epic monster movie, enlisting their former evil overlord Gary Orkam Oliver Magma Ichabod the Deceiver, aka Goomi, to conjure a monster; they travel to a mysterious island and find Irene, who once in Hollywood tries to "destroy everything on the planet," setting the stage for another Minion mess.

The voice cast includes Allison Janney (The West Wing), Christoph Waltz (Only Murders in the Building), Jeff Bridges (Iron Man), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Zoey Deutch (Nouvelle Vague), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Phil LaMarr (Futurama) and Trey Parker, co-creator of South Park.
