After the premiere had a record-breaking three Golden Buzzer-scoring Acts, Season 21 was already off to an amazing start. The second night of Auditions brought another crop of diverse, exciting performers who delighted the judges — Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Mel B and Sofía Vergara — while host Terry Crews could barely contain his enthusiasm backstage; one of the contestants may even go home with that $1 million prize.

Not every moment landed. Scientist Kevin Quantum built a giant, fiery version of the swinging-ball desk toy and walked through it blindfolded, but taking too long to explain and set up the device cost him; the judges agreed the trick impressed but X'd him, though the audience gave a standing ovation.

TikTok prankster Frankie LaPenna's balloon-popping act failed to excite and drew quick Xs from the women, who even reached over to hit the men's buzzers. There were strong yeses, too.
