Ethlabs has launched as a research and development nonprofit backed by former Ethereum Foundation contributors and firms Bitmine and Sharplink, with support from Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin. Sharplink said the organization was formed to "ready Ethereum for the next phase of institutional adoption," aiming to ensure the network can absorb rising demand from stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, funds and autonomous AI commerce.

Ethlabs was co-founded by five former senior Ethereum Foundation researchers — Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Caspar Schwarz-Schilling, Josh Rudolf and Julian Ma. Sharplink said the initiative brings together "technologists who have guided the network through its most consequential upgrades over the past decade," giving that work a dedicated institutional home and stable, long-term funding.

Lubin said Ethereum "is entering its next stage of evolution" and called for "a number of steward nodes of Ethereum" to help grow blockchain use.
