Ethereum Foundation co-executive director Hsiao-Wei Wang has stepped down from her leadership role and will return to a research-focused position. Her exit is the latest in a wave of at least eight senior departures over the past five months, intensifying scrutiny of the Switzerland-based nonprofit that coordinates Ethereum research, development and ecosystem initiatives.

The Foundation recently unveiled a new strategic framework called "CROPS" — cypherpunk values, resilience, open-source development, permissionlessness and security — which leaders framed as a way to clarify the EF's mission and reinforce Ethereum's core values as stewardship shifts outward.

Supporters viewed it as a reaffirmation of Ethereum's founding principles, while critics said it did little to address concerns about execution, organizational effectiveness and the network's competitive position.
