England Women's 2026 fixtures, results and how to watch
England entered 2025 determined to defend their European title and did so by beating Spain on penalties in the final in Switzerland. The Lionesses needed a shootout to get past Sweden in the quarter-finals and extra time to overcome Italy in the semi-final, securing revenge on Spain after the 2023 World Cup final defeat.
In 2026 the team began their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign strongly, winning their first four games, including a victory over Spain at Wembley, and sat top of the group with two matches remaining. On June 5 in Mallorca, however, Spain beat England 4-0 — the Lionesses' heaviest defeat of the Wiegman era and their biggest in 17 years — leaving England reliant on a favourable Iceland result or the play-off route.
England finish qualification by hosting Ukraine at Hill Dickinson Stadium; a better result than Spain in Iceland would still secure top spot, but a Spanish win would send the Lionesses into play-offs.
