England have enjoyed recent success, winning the European Championships in 2022 and 2025 and reaching the 2023 World Cup final. Players involved in those runs are now moving into the record books for caps as well as trophies. In March 2026 Lucy Bronze made her 145th appearance, surpassing Karen Carney, and described her place among Lionesses icons as "mind-blowing": "I could never have imagined even getting to 100 caps, let alone to be surpassing someone like Karen Carney, who to me was a legend, someone I grew up admiring and one of my role models." She has since climbed to 148 caps and has scored 22 goals from right-back.

Bronze is the only current player in the top 10, but several members of Sarina Wiegman's squad are closing in. Alex Greenwood has 107 caps and is on the brink of the top 10, Keira Walsh has 99 at 28, Georgia Stanway 89 at 27, and Lauren Hemp 74 at 25. The all-time record remains Fara Williams' 172 caps, with Jill Scott on 161 and Karen Carney on 144.
