There is one week to go until the 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11. The tournament's expansion to 48 teams, and some nations carrying three separate strips, means more than 100 different shirts will be on show across North America. GOAL sifted through tired templates and a few dire designs to rank the 20 best kits heading to the tournament.

Topping the list is Mexico's adidas home shirt, which features traditional motifs in dark green against a lighter base described as representing the country's energy and pride. Japan's retro-tinged adidas home is second, with an abstract graphic inspired by the haze where sea meets sky, while Curacao's pale-yellow away, with dark blue trim and colourful Three Stripes, takes third.
