Embracer CEO Says He Hopes Trust Will Return Amid Plans for More Acquisitions
Embracer, owner of Saints Row, Tomb Raider, Dead Island and the rights to set games in Tolkien’s Middle-earth, spent a decade buying studios between 2013 and 2023 and even dug up the remains of THQ before partly collapsing when a $2 billion development deal was canceled at the last minute.
The company has since rearranged assets, sold parts of itself and laid off many staff. After that corporate shuffling, CEO Phil Rogers says he hopes players and developers will begin to trust Embracer again.
