Gamesradar reports Embark Studios is discussing Arc Raiders' late spawn system, which commonly places raiders into active raids with roughly 17 to 25 minutes remaining; design lead Virgil Watkins said the system serves an essential purpose but “really sucks” when players arrive with no time for their intended objective.

Watkins said the late-join mechanic was intended to prevent raids from emptying out after about 10 minutes and leaving players effectively alone, preserving the suspense and danger of full lobbies. Embark has arranged loot amounts, spawn locations and spawn points so late joiners should have plenty of activities to pursue, and the studio hoped players would pivot to alternate plans when their original objective becomes impossible.

Still, the developer acknowledges the frustration in situations such as limited-time events or raids requiring a specific key, where a late arrival can feel wasted. Embark is reportedly considering ways to reduce that pain point, and Watkins said he wants to prioritise fixes for cases where a late join undercuts a player’s dedicated purpose in a raid.
