Elizabeth Banks to Lead Live-Action The Magic School Bus Reboot

Elizabeth Banks will produce and play Ms. Valerie Frizzle in a live-action adaptation of The Magic School Bus. Legendary Entertainment and Scholastic Entertainment are developing the project, with Rob Letterman (Detective Pikachu) set to direct. The story follows Ms.

Frizzle and her curious third-grade class at Walkerville Elementary as a sentient, shape-shifting school bus takes them to impossible places — inside the human body, prehistoric times, and even outer space — for up-close looks at intriguing phenomena. The project coincides with the 40th anniversary of the original book, first published in 1986.

The books later became an animated series that ran from 1994 to 1997 with Lily Tomlin as Ms. Frizzle, have sold over 90 million copies in print, and expanded into multiple spin-offs across television and digital platforms.
