Editors' Father's Day book picks
Editors have put together a Father's Day reading list with something for every dad: a witty LitRPG adventure, sports history, cookbooks, children's stories and classic fiction. Highlights include Dungeon Crawler Carl, a creative tale about a vet and a cat competing in an intergalactic game show; Blood in the Garden, a raucous look back at the 1990s Knicks that even made an annual presidential book list; The Greatest Traybake Cookbook Ever for dads who like to cook; and The Perfect Match, a sweet, soccer-themed bedtime story for families.
Other recommendations span narrative nonfiction and classics: The Wager, which follows a British warship that washed up on the coast of Brazil in 1842; Shoeless Joe, the novel behind Field of Dreams that probes a fractured father–son relationship; King of Kings, a history of the Iranian revolution; and Into Thin Air, Jon Krakauer’s account of the deadly 1996 Everest storm.
For fans of television and literature there’s Woke Up This Morning, a Sopranos-themed title, and F.
