EA Lays Off Staff Ahead of Expected $55 Billion Sale
Electronic Arts has carried out another round of layoffs affecting recruitment, customer support, trust and safety, and IT teams. The total number of affected employees is unknown, but public postings and messages from impacted staff point to remote roles in the U.S.
and several people from EA’s Hyderabad office. Multiple Hyderabad employees had been with the company for more than ten years. An internal email to EA’s Fan Care team described the moves as part of efforts to "adapt how we work to better meet fans’ changing needs." It added: "As part of this evolution, we are making or proposing to make changes to some roles, creating new roles, and moving certain work to different teams, locations, or service partners." The company has carried out rolling layoffs in recent years, including over 200 Apex Legends testers in 2023, an unknown number at Codemasters, and nearly 800 later that year.
Subsequent rounds hit BioWare, and in 2024 EA cut around 670 staff.
