Electronic Arts president of enterprise development Laura Miele said the rise of artificial intelligence in game development can bring about "a real rise of creativity" by removing tedious grunt work and enabling faster development processes overall. She made the remarks during a Game Business Live showcase at Summer Game Fest, responding to a question about whether AI tools will shorten development cycles.

"Perhaps in some parts they will," Miele said, noting AI has removed friction from pipelines and tools, sped up prototyping, and led to shorter, faster conversations around creativity and alignment. The term "AI" covers a wide range of tools, the piece adds, from the AI-powered project management tools used by Fumito Ueda at GenDesign to generative systems the article describes as "slop machines." EA's leadership has been vocal about generative AI.
