Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: powerful but very loud

Two things hit you when you first pick up the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool: a bold flesh-pink (stone/blush) finish, and an unexpectedly powerful blast of air. The fan’s five speeds push impressive wind for something so compact, but it also becomes noticeably loud as you step through the settings — more “jet” than “hush”.

Priced at £99.99, it delivers plenty of cooling, if you can tolerate the noise. Testing used a digital anemometer for wind speed, a sound-measurement app held 15cm away for volume readings, kitchen scales for weight and timed battery runs at the highest and lowest settings.

The review also considered comfort, ease of use, styling and whether the price represents good value compared with much cheaper handheld fans. The design is typically considered and easy to use: a single power button, a speed rocker with five indicator lights, an adjustable lanyard for wearing it around the neck and a USB-C charging stand for desk use.
