Techland's latest update, Patch 1.28—dubbed The Breach—expands Dying Light 2's modding and UGC tools after four years of post-launch improvements to the game's parkour, added Volatiles to Villedor's nights, boosted combat and added features such as New Game+ and replayable bounties.

After completing the Prologue, players can speak to two reintroduced characters, Tolga and Fatin, who act as the gateway to a broader portal of UGC experiences. Official additions include a third-person mode and a low-gravity mode, while featured community creations include The Atomborne, which attempts to turn the game into a gothic-as-heck soulslike, and Dead Circuit, which converts Dying Light 2 into a snazzy-looking Dead Space knockoff.
