Zaire Wade, 24, was arrested by the Burbank Police Department on suspicion of felony domestic violence. He was taken into custody on Sunday and released hours later after posting a $50,000 bond. He faces three charges—felony domestic violence, criminal threats and false imprisonment—and an emergency order of protection has been issued.

Police responded to a 911 call of a woman screaming around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Wade and a woman with lacerations on her face and body. Paramedics checked the woman but she was not taken to a hospital, and authorities removed a handgun from the home.

The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for potential charges. Reps for the retired NBA star and the Burbank Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Zaire Wade is best known for his family but has pursued a professional basketball career: he played one season for the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League and later played overseas in South Africa and Macau.
