Dwayne Johnson Sings on New Moana Duet 'Along the Way'

Disney has released "Along the Way," a new song written for the live-action Moana by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and published a behind-the-scenes featurette showing how it came together. The track went live on Monday, June 15, and is the first piece of new music the studio has shared from a soundtrack that otherwise leans on familiar songs.

The song pairs Catherine Laga'aia, who plays Moana in the new film, with Auli'i Cravalho, who voiced the wayfinder in the animated Moana and Moana 2, alongside Dwayne Johnson reprising Maui. Director Thomas Kail said the team "really wanted to do something that could be distinct to this film," and the idea of having both versions of the character sing together became the way in.
