Paramount+ has renewed Dutton Ranch for a second season, with the announcement arriving ahead of the Season 1 finale. The series continues the post-Yellowstone storylines of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and follows Carter (Finn Little) as well.

Created by Chad Feehan, the show has proceeded without Taylor Sheridan in the writers' room after Feehan exited prior to the Season 1 premiere. It followed a record-breaking debut and has been noted for maintaining strong visual and narrative standards while focusing more tightly on its central characters.

The series relocates Beth, Rip and Carter from Montana to the U.S.-Mexico border, using that setting to expand character arcs for both returning leads and new Rio Paloma players. Reviewers have pointed out that Beth feels more rounded, Carter has grown into his own, and Rip largely retains the persona viewers remember from Yellowstone.
