Dune: Prophecy's scale outstrips The Expanse

Dune: Prophecy premiered on HBO in November 2024 as a six-episode series and was renewed for a second season before its finale aired. The show takes viewers 10,000 years into a foundational mythology, a scope that the piece contrasts with The Expanse’s more focused, single-solar-system story.

Season 2 wrapped production in March 2026 and will premiere on HBO Max later this year, ahead of Dune: Part Three arriving in December. The series centers on the Bene Gesserit and their long-term breeding program, a project that spans thousands of years and hundreds of generations.
