Duffer Brothers' event film set for Nov. 3, 2028

Since the conclusion of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer signed an exclusive four-year development deal with Paramount Skydance in August 2025, shortly before the debut of Stranger Things Season 5. The agreement covers movies, television, and streaming projects, and their first movie for Paramount Pictures is scheduled to open on Nov.

3, 2028. The project has been described as an "event film." No further details have been released. The untitled Duffer Brothers film opens the same day as Warner Bros.' animated adaptation of The Lunar Chronicles and two weeks before Paramount's new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Being labeled an "event film" has prompted speculation that Paramount might tap the duo to reimagine one of its established properties; Transformers has been floated as a possibility, with Jason Fuchs recently hired as screenwriter for an untitled film. Given the Duffer Brothers' success with Stranger Things, however, the project could also be original.
