Capcom announced during the June 25 Spotlight showcase that Kento Kinoshita will direct Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Kinoshita previously helmed the 2013 Dark Arisen expansion for the original Dragon's Dogma, the release that helped the RPG achieve cult classic status.

Dark Arisen is an expanded version of the 2024 game, first revealed during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. It adds a snowy region called Norgan with an original story and new enemies, introduces the Relic Expedition system for crafting weapons and armor with different class skills, and places twelve challenging dungeons called Last Rites on the base map.

Much of Capcom’s Spotlight material reiterated earlier details, but Kinoshita’s return was a surprise. He briefly and cryptically mentioned the Fallen Dragon, the presumed antagonist, and Eir, a woman shown in the trailer who is also pursuing the dragon; he did not disclose many other story elements.
