A live gameplay demo at Summer Game Fest offered a first look at Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the follow-up to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 a decade on. The game is set about 250 years after the previous entry, in Age 1000's West City — a futuristic metropolis filled with series characters.

Your base is a cluttered bedroom that can be cleaned and customized, and the demo even showed Vegeta casually hanging out in a building lobby. Players create a character and choose from several races. The demo mainly featured an Earthling and briefly a Saiyan (which can reach Super Saiyan 3), and Bandai Namco confirmed more races will appear in the final game.

Characters can be customized with currency earned from missions, and emotes can be set. Combat largely follows familiar Xenoverse mechanics. A linear icy mission emphasized aerial fighting: flying and boosting, light and heavy attacks, air juggles, and breaking an enemy’s Ki while guarding to recharge your own.
