Disney will release an animated special, Mickey’s Home Alone, on Disney+ and Disney Jr this holiday season. The special reworks the Home Alone concept with Mickey Mouse and his friends at the center of the story. In the special, Mickey looks forward to spending Christmas at home, but Minnie surprises the gang with tickets to a world-famous Ice Palace.

In the rush to leave, Mickey and Pluto are accidentally left behind and must protect their home from two feisty villains, a raccoon and a weasel, while Minnie and the others try to return. The special includes original songs, "Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas" and "Favorite Christmas Feeling," written by Keith Harrison Dworkin.

A first look teases a house reminiscent of the McCallister home, making this likely the closest thing yet to a full-blown remake. The original 1990 Home Alone became a box-office sensation thanks to director Chris Columbus, writer John Hughes and a cast led by Macaulay Culkin, with supporting turns from Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Catherine O'Hara.
