Netflix's Dept. Q season 2 begins filming, plot details revealed
Filming has started in Edinburgh on the second season of Dept. Q., the darkly comic police mystery based on the novels by Jussi Adler-Olsen. The series centers on the irascible detective DCI Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), who remains employed by the Edinburgh police to handle historic unsolved cases from a station basement alongside a motley crew of unwanted detectives.
Goode returns with his team: Jamie Sives as the deadpan Hardy, Leah Byrne as Rose, and Alexej Manvalov as Akram. Kate Dickie, Sanjeev Kohli, and Mark Bonnar are also confirmed, while Kelly Macdonald’s status is less certain after her name was notably absent from many cast updates.
New additions include Aisling Franciosi, Greg Wise, Alex Ferns, and Amy Brenneman, and showrunner Scott Frank is back behind the camera. Season 1 spent six weeks in Netflix’s global top ten and holds an 88% "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
