Denzel Dumfries has called for a clear change in the Netherlands' team culture, urging team-mates to adopt a more confrontational approach and take lessons from the intensity of the Inter dressing room. The defender, who is on the verge of a high-profile move to Real Madrid, believes the squad needs a sharper edge to contend at the World Cup.

He pointed to the San Siro environment as a model, noting that the Dutch camp’s pleasant, positive atmosphere can sometimes lack the friction that forces players to assert themselves. The Netherlands are in Group F with Japan, Sweden and Tunisia, having drawn 2-2 with Japan in their opening match, in which Dumfries featured, before facing Sweden.
