Dennis Quaid’s 2024 biopic Reagan, which divided critics but earned a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, will return to theaters this summer. The film, which received six Razzie nominations including Worst Picture and Worst Actor, will screen in more than a dozen cities over the Fourth of July weekend and expand to about 600 theaters in September.

The re-release features roughly 10 minutes of previously unseen footage focusing on Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy, Reagan’s fraught relationship with his alcoholic father Jack, and new scenes set at Rancho del Cielo. That extended material pushes the runtime to about 2.5 hours.

Quaid has said he initially doubted he was the right choice for the role, but a visit to the Reagan Ranch changed his view, helping him see the former president as a humble, human figure.
