Deltarune Chapter 5 nears 300,000 concurrent Steam players

Deltarune Chapter 5 has repeatedly broken the game's personal Steam concurrent-player record since its release, hitting an all-time peak of 291,816 players. The launch began around 200,000 concurrent players and climbed steadily toward 300,000 throughout the day.

A week earlier the game's peak was nearer 8,000, and its previous high of 133,930 concurrent players came a year ago when Chapters 3 and 4 launched. Deltarune first arrived in 2018 and Chapter 2 followed in 2021; Chapter 5 arrived roughly a year after the recent installments, a schedule that has helped build momentum.

Fans have spent months poring over teases—whiteboards and red string have been enlisted to map out theories—and that online fervor appears to be drawing players back to the game now.

Chapter 5 also features a song Toby Fox wrote 10 years ago, titled "Sorry Mom," much to his mother's disappointment.
