Dead by Daylight movie greenlit at Blumhouse with director attached
Blumhouse has officially greenlit a film adaptation of Dead by Daylight and tapped Thordur Palsson to direct, partnering with James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster and video game developer Behaviour Interactive. Palsson is best known for his Netflix detective series The Valhalla Murders and the 2025 monster movie The Damned.
In a statement, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum said, "Thordur is the filmmaker we trust to carry ‘Dead by Daylight’ from the screen you play on to the big screen you watch in theaters." Earlier this year the project added writers Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnston-McGoldrick.
Not much is known about the movie at this point, but it is said to start filming sometime in 2027. The adaptation follows the hit multiplayer game's premise: four players must complete tasks to escape while a fifth player becomes the killer, who aims to trap each survivor and sacrifice them to The Entity.
