At the press day for "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been" on May 26, David Krumholtz said his "The Santa Clause" residuals are minimal because "the movie plays so much." He added, "This is how residuals work: every time it plays, you make less. It's a grade scale." Krumholtz, 48, recalled that when he first received residuals from the Tim Allen-starring Christmas movie "it was good," but now estimates he makes "$150 bucks a year." He played Bernard the Head Elf in the 1994 film and its 2002 sequel, did not return for the 2006 third installment, and appeared in the 2022 Disney+ series.

He said he currently earns the most residuals from the 2023 blockbuster "Oppenheimer." When asked for a number he first joked, "That's none of your business! What kind of question is that?" then admitted, "It's $12.73.
