DC Studios has released the first official clip from Supergirl, bringing David Corenswet's Superman together with Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the film follows Alcock's Kara — who first appeared in the final scene of Superman — on her first solo outing in the DCU, the heroine's first live-action solo movie in over 40 years.

Set sometime in the past outside the Fortress of Solitude, the clip shows Superman opening the pod that brought Kara to Earth after Krypton's destruction. Kara, holding the white puppy Krypto, speaks in her native Kryptonian, creating an immediate language barrier between the cousins.

Clark reassures her that she will learn to love Earth once she acclimates, while Kara asks in Kryptonian why he is 'in his underwear,' a playful nod to the shorts-on-the-outside element of his costume. As she begins absorbing the rays of Earth's yellow sun, Clark says her powers 'are going to start kicking in right about now,' teasing her evolution into Supergirl.
