Dark Matter Season 2 Brings an Original Chapter to the Multiverse
Apple TV has scheduled Dark Matter Season 2 to premiere on Friday, August 28, 2026. The new run will comprise 10 episodes, one more than Season 1, and arrives a little over two years after the first season concluded in June 2024. The series adapts Blake Crouch's 2016 novel and follows Joel Edgerton's Jason Dessen as he traverses the multiverse in a bid to return to his original family.
Much of the book was retained for the screen—around 98% by one account—and the show added twists, subplots and entirely new characters that sit alongside the source material. Blake Crouch served as showrunner on the adaptation and approved the changes made for television.
Because Season 1 exhausted the novel's storyline, Season 2 will present a completely original narrative that expands the world and continues the characters' arcs.
