Daredevil: Born Again could redeem Iron Fist
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again surprised viewers by bringing Jessica Jones back and revealing that she and Luke Cage have a daughter. Set photos now suggest the Defenders reunion will expand in Season 3, with Danny Rand — the Immortal Iron Fist — expected to play a major role.
If the series develops him carefully, it could finally make Iron Fist a compelling character. Iron Fist has long been seen as the weakest of the original Netflix Defenders, a perception blamed on Scott Buck’s downplaying of the character’s mystical origins and on lackluster fight choreography.
Born Again’s second-season finale set up a clear path forward: Matt Murdock revealed his identity to dismantle Wilson Fisk’s regime, then was arrested after Fisk outlawed vigilante activity. That arc positions Season 3 to adapt Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark’s “Devil in Cell Block D,” in which Matt struggles in prison while a mysterious figure patrols the streets as Daredevil — a role Danny eventually takes on before returning the mantle.
