Daniel Kaluuya to Star in Shaka King’s Action Thriller The Parlay
Daniel Kaluuya has been confirmed to star in The Parlay, an action crime feature set up at Amazon MGM Studios and Adam McKay's HyperObject Industries. Teyana Taylor is also circling, and the original spec by Limetown writers Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie is being revised by the pair alongside director Shaka King.
HyperObject, the company behind Don't Look Up and The Menu, hints at the film’s sharp-edged genre swing. The project reunites Kaluuya with Shaka King, who directed him to a Best Supporting Actor win for Judas and the Black Messiah, the 2021 drama that earned six Oscar nominations including Best Picture.
Kaluuya has been selective with screen roles since his win; Jordan Peele's Nope and a scene-stealing voice turn as Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are his most visible recent work.
