Marc Cucurella, the new Real Madrid left-back, has promised to shoulder defensive duties so Vinicius Jr can concentrate on attacking. Cucurella completed a €55 million move from Chelsea and is among the high-profile signings for returning manager Jose Mourinho, alongside Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate, with Denzel Dumfries expected to join from Inter.

Currently with Spain at the 2026 World Cup, he outlined how he plans to link up with the Brazilian on Madrid’s left flank. Conscious of Vinicius’s attacking importance, Cucurella said he will take on the defensive burden. "I don't care if he doesn't track back, I'll do everything he doesn't want to do.

As long as he's decisive and fresh enough to score goals, I'll do the dirty work," he added, noting Vinicius has been a key figure in Real Madrid's Champions League campaigns.
