Crystal Palace agree deal to appoint Pierre Sage as head coach
Crystal Palace have moved quickly to secure a successor to Oliver Glasner, reaching an agreement in principle with RC Lens head coach Pierre Sage to take charge at Selhurst Park. The club turned to the Frenchman after missing out on long-term target Andoni Iraola, who was snapped up by Liverpool to succeed Arne Slot.
Fabrizio Romano has signalled a “here we go” on a contract running until June 2029 with an option for a further season, while negotiations continue over a compensation package with Lens to release their highly rated coach. Sage arrives tasked with following Glasner, under whom Palace enjoyed a historic period that yielded the FA Cup, the Community Shield and the UEFA Conference League.
Glasner chose not to renew his deal, which expires on June 30, leaving the board seeking someone who could maintain the club’s momentum.
