Democratic and Republican candidates in California, New Jersey and South Dakota won their primaries after supportive ads purchased by cryptocurrency industry-backed PACs. In California, Democrats Jacqui Irwin, Ted Lieu, Zoe Lofgren, Dave Min, Mike McGuire, Hilda Solis, George Whitesides, Lou Correa and Lateefah Simon won House primaries.

Democrat Rob Menendez prevailed in New Jersey’s 8th congressional district primary, and Republican Mike Rounds won the South Dakota Senate primary. The victories followed roughly $3.5 million in media spending by Protect Progress and Defend American Jobs, groups affiliated with Fairshake, a PAC funded largely by Coinbase and Ripple Labs that reported a $193 million war chest in January.
