Crypto Kidnappers Plead Guilty in $8M Minnesota Robbery
Two brothers, Isiah Angelo Garcia and Raymond Christian Garcia, pleaded guilty to Interference with Commerce by Robbery after an armed attack that netted $8 million in cryptocurrency. The defendants face a maximum of 20 years in federal prison. “The guilty pleas entered today reflect our commitment to holding the defendants accountable for the choices they made,” US Attorney Daniel Rosen said.
Prosecutors say the men traveled from Texas to Minnesota on Sept. 19, 2025, held a victim and his family at gunpoint and forced transfers of crypto from the victim’s online accounts and hardware wallets. The victim’s wife and son were held in the family home for nine hours while the victim was taken to a family cabin about three hours away and made to surrender $8 million in cryptocurrency.
Law enforcement was alerted after the victim’s son placed an emergency call that reached Washington County sheriff’s deputies. Deputies later recovered a rifle and a shotgun; surveillance footage and other evidence linked the brothers to the burglary.
