Crypto ATM Bans Advance in Delaware, New Jersey
Delaware and New Jersey have moved bills that would ban cryptocurrency ATMs closer to full-chamber votes. The Delaware House Economic Committee passed House Bill 441, which would ban owning, installing or operating a cryptocurrency kiosk. The New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee unanimously voted to send its bill prohibiting crypto ATMs to the full chamber.
The measures echo total bans already enacted in Indiana, Tennessee and Minnesota and follow concerns that kiosks are frequently used in scams. The FBI said in May it received nearly 13,500 complaints about crypto ATMs in 2025 involving over $388 million in losses, a 23% rise in complaints and a 58% increase in losses from 2024; over half the complaints involved people aged over 50, with losses exceeding $302 million.
