Crossfire becomes a single-player game from ex-Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward staff
That’s No Moon, a studio founded by veterans from Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward, has revealed its debut game, Crossfire. The narrative-driven single-player title reimagines Smilegate’s long-running multiplayer shooter series and is in development for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Ahead of its Summer Game Fest reveal, the studio showed a live gameplay demo at its Los Angeles studio. Crossfire is a third-person military shooter with a hint of sci‑fi, emphasizing stealth, cover-based shootouts and gadgetry such as an invisibility cloak. That’s No Moon stresses the combat is grounded: players can’t simply run in and “Rambo” their way out, and only a few shots separate life and death.
Its standout mechanic is an adaptive cover system that ditches boxy chest‑high walls; characters dynamically conform to terrain, crab-walking along low stone walls and dropping to a full crawl behind hills. The adaptive system was custom-built around Unreal Engine 5.
