'Backrooms' Uncanny Still-Life Monsters Explained
Kane Parsons' runaway horror hit Backrooms is certainly loaded with unanswered questions, which is a defining trait of the unknowable labyrinth of humming fluorescent lights and sickly yellow interior. The box office smash never even attempts to address concepts as big as the origin of the Backrooms, also referred to as the Complex.
The audience is introduced to the Backrooms via the movie's two primary characters, but we only ever get their perspectives and interpretations of how the Backrooms work. In Kane Parsons' original web series that Backrooms is based on, the halls of the Complex are haunted by creatures that seem to hunt any human beings unfortunate enough to find themselves "no-clipping" into the space.
Although Parsons included creatures—or "entities", as they're known in Backrooms internet lore—in A24's Backrooms, they are nothing like the bacteria-like monsters in the YouTube series' terrifying Found Footage episodes.
